MIKE THURMOND TO DISTRIBUTE GEORGIA-GROWN PRODUCE TO FOOD INSECURE FAMILIES WITH HOSEA HELPS
ATLANTA, GA – On Saturday, November 15, 2025, Mike Thurmond will join Hosea Helps, Inc. (formerly known as Hosea Feed the Hungry and Homeless) to distribute Georgia-grown fresh fruits, vegetables, and eggs to 500 local families who have been impacted by the government shutdown, loss of SNAP, and other federal assistance delays.
This is a continuation of Mike's longstanding commitment to building broad coalitions, creating Georgia-based solutions, and putting boots on the ground for Georgia families in times of crisis.
As CEO of DeKalb County, Mike launched a partnership with South Georgia farmers to buy and distribute boxes of fresh produce to food-insecure families impacted by the COVID pandemic. Since its launch in 2020, the program has distributed more than 170,000 boxes of produce to DeKalb families.
